COMPARATIVE CASE STUDIES

Objectives
This work package is the core of the comparative research project. Its objective is to collect and analyse data on the selected 5 cases in each city of state-SO co-operation and to develop models out or these data. The work package encompasses:
- In-depth description of the SOs, the services they deliver, the way the local government purchases the services in China and Germany
- In-depth investigation of the legal and political framework of the particular cases (national and local laws and regulations, by-laws that regulate the cases; local customs and traditions that have an impact on the state-SO co-operation-relation) in China and Germany
- In-depth investigation of assessment of the co-operation in each case by the individual SO’s staff, members, and volunteers in China and Germany
- In-depth investigation of the assessment of the co-operation in each case by the local state’s representatives and personnel involved in each case in China and Germany
- In-depth investigation of the stake-holders of the co-operation (beneficiaries of the services, other co-operation partners of the SO, sub-contractors, local community) in China and Germany
- An overview of problems of co-operation in China and Germany
- An overview of successful modes of co-operation and failures in co-operation in China and Germany
Aims
To conduct in-depth case studies in order to form the basis for the comparative study. Then, on the basis of these case studies to write up a comparative study developing models of state-SO co-operation in China and Germany.
