LoGoSO Team at „Good Life, State and Society“ Conference in Berlin

From December 6 to 9, 2018, members of the Chinese research team came to participate in the international conference “Good Life, State and Society” at Freie Universität Berlin. Before the conference started, the Chinese team spend a day exploring Berlin and the German civil society sector. At the Sharehouse Refugio, which is one of the case studies of the research project, we had the chance to learn about this exceptional project, which provides social services for refugees in Berlin. Afterwards, a presentation by the Maecenata Institute’s director Dr. Rupert Graf Strachwitz provided valuable insights into the German non-profit sector.

At the “Good Life, State and Society” conference, the LoGoSO project members spent two days exchanging views on various aspects of the Chinese non-profit sector with over 20 experienced as well as young Chinese and international scholars. The two conference days full of interesting inputs and with much room for discussion were very inspiring and provided manifold insights. The conference was well-received and showed the timeliness and relevance of the topics of state-society relations in China.

A small LoGoSO workshop to discuss the status and further proceedings of the project concluded the Chinese team’s visit in Berlin. The case studies in the four sample cities are in progress. The next year will be devoted to concluding the research, writing up the results and disseminating them. We are good in time but there is still a lot of work ahead of us!
