From March 29 to March 31, 2018, the Chinese team invited all project members to the mid-term workshop of LoGoSO project in Beijing. The objectives of the workshop were to end the desktop research phase of the project, to prepare the field research phase and to guarantee the comparability of the research results.
The first day of the workshop was devoted to internal exchange and preparation of the second day’s discussions. Caspar Welbergen from Stiftung Mercator held an encouraging welcome speech, all three teams reported on their work progress and open issues were discussed and clarified.
On the second day of the workshop, the second LoGoSO-Roundtable with a focus on the Chinese part of the project took place with ten of the most distinguished Chinese experts on China’s third sector. We discussed the LoGoSO project with the experts and received a lot of positive feedback and valuable input. Particularly the comparison between China and Germany and the identification of effective co-operation models between social organizations and local governments were perceived as important and relevant research contributions.
On the third day, the workshop was concluded with a visit to the Beijing Social Organization Development Center, which offered valuable insights into the practical work of a Chinese social organization.
The workshop was a great opportunity for all members of the project to get to know each other better and clarify open questions. We are now starting the important field phase of the project and are looking forward to our next meeting in 2019!
